Many of us know about the passage that talks about our bodies being the temple of the Holy Spirit. This passage has been misinterpreted by many. We think the Bible is only talking about abstaining from sins. It also means to keep our bodies physically fit. Ephesians 5:29 says, “No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church” (NLT). Paul is talking about the physical body. Taking care of the physical body is as important as taking care of the soul. If we are not physically fit, we will not be able to do certain ministries, accomplish our daily tasks or enjoy life. Eating right, exercising daily, taking rest often, staying away from food that makes us sick, etc, are all part of the regimen to keep us fit. Remember, keeping our body in shape is an act of worship to God. Let’s work on being fit this year.
